"The Wonderful & The Terrible"
Watercolor & ink on claybord
48" x 48"
A mediation on: what it is to be human.
Have you noticed how full life is of paradox?
Life can seem simple on the surface at times, but really it’s deeply complex and often two (or more) seemingly conflicting things are truth at the very same time.
Joy in sadness. Growth and loss. Triumph and devastation. Beautiful budding life alongside horrendous pain.
I think the most true form of being alive, of being human, is opening our eyes to all that is around us.
It’s being willing to look life in the face, with all it holds, both the wonderful
and the terrible.
If you have also spent a lot of time contemplating this, reckoning with the sacred spaces in life between the very true things that seems as if they can’t possibly coexist, this piece is for you.
